Trigger finger a common condition

TRIGGER FINGER-VO It may sound like it’s caused from shooting a gun, but that’s not what normally causes trigger finger. The condition, when one finger is bent over and gets stuck, is caused when the tendon in the finger gets caught in one of the sheaths in the finger that surrounds it. For some people, the finger will snap back into place, but in some cases, surgery is required to get the finger back to normal.Bible-Gun-1263002One local doctor says the condition is very common – something he sees every week. And if you think you have the condition, consult your family doctor first.“Sometimes we may think it’s from the finger and it’s arthritis or there could be some other thing that’s causing pain in the hand, there are some conditions that cause contractures in the hand,” Dr. Richard Rattay of Mason City Clinic and Mercy Medical Center North Iowa said.
Trigger finger can sometimes be treated by anti-inflammatory medication or a shot of cortisone into the tendon, but in severe cases, surgery is required.
“There are a lot of patients that they’ve kind of been worked up and we may try a cortizone shot and they actually get better and never need surgery but then there are other people who just don’t get better enough or they come in and their finger is already stuck and then those people are better off with surgery,” Rattay said.  triggerfinger  MASON CITY, Iowa –

Kraft recalls 2 million pounds of turkey bacon

Judge Judy promotes her new book: www.whatwouldjudysay.com

She’s never been shy to tell others what she thinks, “even as a child,” and Judge Judith Scheindlen isn’t holding back on what she says is keeping women back.

“I think that women for too long allowed other people define what their happiness and reasonable role should be,” said the host of the Judge Judy show.

Scheindlen took a page from her popular website, WhatWouldJudySay.com, to create her new book, ‘What Would Judy Say? Be The Hero Of Your Own Story.’

“In this book I want to have an honest conversation about what it really takes to get what you deserve out of life: how to define your worth and stick to it; how to find the courage to take risks–and how to build your backup plan; how to ignore the chattering classes and create your own destiny,” said Scheindlen.

The book, which is free, is downloadable on electronic devices at WhatWouldJudySay.com.

“If you have a forty year old unmarried daughter you go ugh, but if you have a 40 year old son who is dating around, you go, he’s having a good time,” said Scheindlen.

Her message to women is create a whole you before you let someone else define what you are. Start by establishing a way to earn a living and develop interests in music, art, dance, theater, etc.

“Women are so desperate to stay in a relationship to be defined,” said Scheindlen.

The wife, mother and grandmother is currently in the 19th season of her hit TV courtroom show on FOX.

Supermarket Chain Recalls Sausage

CBS Philly

MONROVIA, Calif. (AP) — Trader Joe’s customers who bought the chain’s Sweet Apple Chicken Sausage are urged to throw it out amid concerns plastic may have made its way into the packages.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced this week that Massachusetts-based sausage maker Kayem Foods is recalling more than 59,000 pounds of the product.

The recall is for 8-ounce sausage packages sold at Trader Joe’s stores nationwide and marked with expiration dates of April 22, 25 and 29. Customers can return the product for a full refund at any Trader Joe’s.

The USDA says no one has eaten the recalled meat so far, and that there is a remote chance of negative health effects if someone does.
